| CVE-2024-36972 | 2024-07-03 | N/A | N/A | ||
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: af_unix: Update unix_sk(sk)->oob_skb under sk_receive_queue lock. Billy Jheng Bing-Jhong reported a race between __unix_gc() and queue_oob(). __unix_gc() tries to garbage-collect close()d inflight sockets, and then if the socket has MSG_OOB in unix_sk(sk)->oob_skb, GC will drop the reference and set NULL to it locklessly. However, the peer socket still can send MSG_OOB message and queue_oob() can update unix_sk(sk)->oob_skb concurrently, leading NULL pointer dereference. [0] To fix the issue, let's update unix_sk(sk)->oob_skb under the sk_receive_queue's lock and take it everywhere we touch oob_skb. Note that we defer kfree_skb() in manage_oob() to silence lockdep false-positive (See [1]). | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/vmwgfx: Fix invalid reads in fence signaled events Correctly set the length of the drm_event to the size of the structure that's actually used. The length of the drm_event was set to the parent structure instead of to the drm_vmw_event_fence which is supposed to be read. drm_read uses the length parameter to copy the event to the user space thus resuling in oob reads. | |||||

| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: powerpc/pseries/iommu: LPAR panics during boot up with a frozen PE At the time of LPAR boot up, partition firmware provides Open Firmware property ibm,dma-window for the PE. This property is provided on the PCI bus the PE is attached to. There are execptions where the partition firmware might not provide this property for the PE at the time of LPAR boot up. One of the scenario is where the firmware has frozen the PE due to some error condition. This PE is frozen for 24 hours or unless the whole system is reinitialized. Within this time frame, if the LPAR is booted, the frozen PE will be presented to the LPAR but ibm,dma-window property could be missing. Today, under these circumstances, the LPAR oopses with NULL pointer dereference, when configuring the PCI bus the PE is attached to. | CVE-2024-36913 | 2024-07-03 | N/A | 8.1 HIGH | ||
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Drivers: hv: vmbus: Leak pages if set_memory_encrypted() fails In CoCo VMs it is possible for the untrusted host to cause set_memory_encrypted() or set_memory_decrypted() to fail such that an error is returned and the resulting memory is shared. Callers need to take care to handle these errors to avoid returning decrypted (shared) memory to the page allocator, which could lead to functional or security issues. VMBus code could free decrypted pages if set_memory_encrypted()/decrypted() fails. Leak the pages if this happens. | |||||
| CVE-2024-36912 | 2024-07-03 | N/A | 8.1 HIGH | ||
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Drivers: hv: vmbus: Track decrypted status in vmbus_gpadl In CoCo VMs it is possible for the untrusted host to cause set_memory_encrypted() or set_memory_decrypted() to fail such that an error is returned and the resulting memory is shared. Callers need to take care to handle these errors to avoid returning decrypted (shared) memory to the page allocator, which could lead to functional or security issues. In order to make sure callers of vmbus_establish_gpadl() and vmbus_teardown_gpadl() don't return decrypted/shared pages to allocators, add a field in struct vmbus_gpadl to keep track of the decryption status of the buffers. This will allow the callers to know if they should free or leak the pages. | |||||
| CVE-2024-36910 | 2024-07-03 | N/A | 6.2 MEDIUM | ||
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: uio_hv_generic: Don't free decrypted memory In CoCo VMs it is possible for the untrusted host to cause set_memory_encrypted() or set_memory_decrypted() to fail such that an error is returned and the resulting memory is shared. Callers need to take care to handle these errors to avoid returning decrypted (shared) memory to the page allocator, which could lead to functional or security issues. The VMBus device UIO driver could free decrypted/shared pages if set_memory_decrypted() fails. Check the decrypted field in the gpadl to decide whether to free the memory. | |||||
| CVE-2024-36905 | 2024-07-03 | N/A | 9.8 CRITICAL | ||
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tcp: defer shutdown(SEND_SHUTDOWN) for TCP_SYN_RECV sockets TCP_SYN_RECV state is really special, it is only used by cross-syn connections, mostly used by fuzzers. In the following crash [1], syzbot managed to trigger a divide by zero in tcp_rcv_space_adjust() A socket makes the following state transitions, without ever calling tcp_init_transfer(), meaning tcp_init_buffer_space() is also not called. TCP_CLOSE connect() TCP_SYN_SENT TCP_SYN_RECV shutdown() -> tcp_shutdown(sk, SEND_SHUTDOWN) TCP_FIN_WAIT1 To fix this issue, change tcp_shutdown() to not perform a TCP_SYN_RECV -> TCP_FIN_WAIT1 transition, which makes no sense anyway. When tcp_rcv_state_process() later changes socket state from TCP_SYN_RECV to TCP_ESTABLISH, then look at sk->sk_shutdown to finally enter TCP_FIN_WAIT1 state, and send a FIN packet from a sane socket state. This means tcp_send_fin() can now be called from BH context, and must use GFP_ATOMIC allocations. | In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: USB: core: Fix access violation during port device removal Testing with KASAN and syzkaller revealed a bug in port.c:disable_store(): usb_hub_to_struct_hub() can return NULL if the hub that the port belongs to is concurrently removed, but the function does not check for this possibility before dereferencing the returned value. It turns out that the first dereference is unnecessary, since hub->intfdev is the parent of the port device, so it can be changed easily. Adding a check for hub == NULL prevents further problems. The same bug exists in the disable_show() routine, and it can be fixed the same way. | |||||

To avoid this, select the cpu with cpumask_any_and_distribute() to mask __pod_cpumask with cpu_online_mask. In case no cpu is left in the pool, skip the assignment. tj: This doesn't fully fix the bug as CPUs can still go down between picking the target CPU and the wake call. Fixing that likely requires adding cpu_online() test to either the sched or s390 arch code. However, regardless of how that is fixed, workqueue shouldn't be picking a CPU which isn't online as that would result in unpredictable and worse behavior. | |||||
