The kernel in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3, when running on SMP systems, allows local users to cause a denial of service (deadlock) by running the shmat function on an shm at the same time that shmctl is removing that shm (IPC_RMID), which prevents a spinlock from being unlocked.
CVE-2009-1388 | 1 Linux | 1 Linux Kernel | 2024-02-15 | 4.9 MEDIUM | 5.5 MEDIUM |
The ptrace_start function in kernel/ptrace.c in the Linux kernel 2.6.18 does not properly handle simultaneous execution of the do_coredump function, which allows local users to cause a denial of service (deadlock) via vectors involving the ptrace system call and a coredumping thread.
CVE-2019-11599 | 1 Linux | 1 Linux Kernel | 2024-02-15 | 6.9 MEDIUM | 7.0 HIGH |
The coredump implementation in the Linux kernel before 5.0.10 does not use locking or other mechanisms to prevent vma layout or vma flags changes while it runs, which allows local users to obtain sensitive information, cause a denial of service, or possibly have unspecified other impact by triggering a race condition with mmget_not_zero or get_task_mm calls. This is related to fs/userfaultfd.c, mm/mmap.c, fs/proc/task_mmu.c, and drivers/infiniband/core/uverbs_main.c.

A denial of service vulnerability was found in tipc_crypto_key_revoke in net/tipc/crypto.c in the Linux kernel’s TIPC subsystem. This flaw allows guests with local user privileges to trigger a deadlock and potentially crash the system.
CVE-2024-0639 | 2 Linux, Redhat | 2 Linux Kernel, Enterprise Linux | 2024-02-14 | N/A | 5.5 MEDIUM |
A denial of service vulnerability due to a deadlock was found in sctp_auto_asconf_init in net/sctp/socket.c in the Linux kernel’s SCTP subsystem. This flaw allows guests with local user privileges to trigger a deadlock and potentially crash the system.
CVE-2023-3750 | 1 Redhat | 2 Enterprise Linux, Libvirt | 2024-02-11 | N/A | 5.3 MEDIUM |
A flaw was found in libvirt. The virStoragePoolObjListSearch function does not return a locked pool as expected, resulting in a race condition and denial of service when attempting to lock the same object from another thread. This issue could allow clients connecting to the read-only socket to crash the libvirt daemon.
CVE-2005-2456 | 2 Debian, Linux | 2 Debian Linux, Linux Kernel | 2024-02-09 | 2.1 LOW | 5.5 MEDIUM |
Array index overflow in the xfrm_sk_policy_insert function in xfrm_user.c in Linux kernel 2.6 allows local users to cause a denial of service (oops or deadlock) and possibly execute arbitrary code via a p->dir value that is larger than XFRM_POLICY_OUT, which is used as an index in the sock->sk_policy array.
CVE-2021-1782 | 1 Apple | 6 Ipados, Iphone Os, Mac Os X and 3 more | 2024-02-09 | 6.9 MEDIUM | 7.0 HIGH |
A race condition was addressed with improved locking. This issue is fixed in macOS Big Sur 11.2, Security Update 2021-001 Catalina, Security Update 2021-001 Mojave, watchOS 7.3, tvOS 14.4, iOS 14.4 and iPadOS 14.4. A malicious application may be able to elevate privileges. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited..
CVE-2009-0935 | 1 Linux | 1 Linux Kernel | 2024-02-09 | 4.7 MEDIUM | 5.5 MEDIUM |
The inotify_read function in the Linux kernel 2.6.27 to 2.6.27.13, 2.6.28 to 2.6.28.2, and 2.6.29-rc3 allows local users to cause a denial of service (OOPS) via a read with an invalid address to an inotify instance, which causes the device's event list mutex to be unlocked twice and prevents proper synchronization of a data structure for the inotify instance.
CVE-2002-1850 | 1 Apache | 1 Http Server | 2024-02-09 | 5.0 MEDIUM | 7.5 HIGH |
mod_cgi in Apache 2.0.39 and 2.0.40 allows local users and possibly remote attackers to cause a denial of service (hang and memory consumption) by causing a CGI script to send a large amount of data to stderr, which results in a read/write deadlock between httpd and the CGI script.

CVE-2022-26356 | 3 Debian, Fedoraproject, Xen | 3 Debian Linux, Fedora, Xen | 2024-02-04 | 4.0 MEDIUM | 5.6 MEDIUM |
Racy interactions between dirty vram tracking and paging log dirty hypercalls Activation of log dirty mode done by XEN_DMOP_track_dirty_vram (was named HVMOP_track_dirty_vram before Xen 4.9) is racy with ongoing log dirty hypercalls. A suitably timed call to XEN_DMOP_track_dirty_vram can enable log dirty while another CPU is still in the process of tearing down the structures related to a previously enabled log dirty mode (XEN_DOMCTL_SHADOW_OP_OFF). This is due to lack of mutually exclusive locking between both operations and can lead to entries being added in already freed slots, resulting in a memory leak. |
